sleeping baby

In order to have your baby sleep well and through the night your baby needs to be scheduled.
Sleep training is not just about sleeping your baby, or allowing your baby to cry or not to cry.

Scheduling their naps and sleep times is a big part in getting your baby to sleep through the night.

The reason my sleep consults are so successful, is due to my professional training and the many years experience I have of getting babies scheduled sleeping and happy.

How can you possibly expect a baby to sleep if your baby is not tired? this is where scheduling is imperative. Each baby’s naps and sleep differs by age; many babies are ready to go back in their crib to sleep within two hours of waking in the morning.

7. am wake up

8.30am nap time.

When consulting I often find parents have missed the “sleep window” and now thier baby may be so over tired they cannot settle at all.

Another issue I often come across is when a baby no longer knows how to settle themselves,or self soothe you may have unintentionally introduced a sleep associated habit that now needs to be broken!

Most common sleep associated habits:

Allowing your baby to fall asleep while soothing/feeding on your breast,to  fall asleep continually in the swing, rocked your baby to sleep again and again in your arms, or allowed your baby to sleep often in the car.

These are a few of the reasons your baby may not be settling at nap time, or sleeping through the night.

It is also quite possible that your baby does not know how to self sooth and put himself back to sleep on waking, due to sleep associated habits, that now need to be broken!

1)      Schedule your baby. Depending on age a minimum of 3 hours daytime naps are required.

2)      Work on breaking sleep associated  habit’s. don’t allow your baby to fall asleep again and again in the swing.

At three months introduce a feeding, and sleeping schedule, babies on a routine are happier babies.

A three month old baby needs a minimum of 3-4 hours nap a day.
